Amendments to Planning Regulation 2017
From 26th September 2022, all secondary dwellings (also known as granny flats) may be rented out to unrelated occupants. Up until this date, they were only able to be occupied by family members of the main dwelling.
This was a result of the State Government announcement on 23rd September which fast-tracked an amendment to the Planning Regulation 2017 (QLD). Click here to read the announcement.
The change to the Regulation provides consistency across all of Queensland and overrides any local planning scheme definition.
